Stress-related work, six tips for business

From constant monitoring of interventions to reduce stress levels, the ideas that NorthgateArinso offers human resources manager

Six tips that want to provide food for thought for managers of human resources on work-related stress. NorthgateArinso proposes for the entry into force of the legislation under which, from December 31, employers work will make the risk assessment, in fact, stress from work.

First, a premise: the factors that affect the psyche, and hence the productivity of the employee, may be of different nature. A difficult economic times like the one that characterizes the current situation, says the consulting firm, "represents a threat to stability not only fueling fears of job uncertainty, but also those that follow the assumption of new responsibilities arising from undersize working groups. " Another cause of stress can be represented by relationships with colleagues and with the head, as well as competition that reigns between the desks.

The commitment of the office of human resources is to ensure every day that the communication processes within and even those are set out in the interests of clarity and efficiency, to develop and implement facilities such as kindergartens, agreements that guarantee a good level of work life balance, and generally promote the use of tools that facilitate the reduction of pressure, such as flexible working and, of course, services. But the HR team can also be a promoter of real corporate policies to protect the welfare of the worker.

Having said this, we see specifically what are the six guidelines suggested by NorthgateArinso.

• First, the company must commit to constantly monitor the levels of stress among the staff

• Then identify the stress factors present in-house

• Perform an assessment Periodic "stressor"

• Ensure the implementation of a system that can analyze, evaluate and respond to any risk factors

• Provide ad hoc interventions aimed at reducing the levels of constant stress, as training activities, focus groups, and so on

• Finally, to listen to any requests for help

"If indeed, as is often said, the human resources are the most important asset of companies - said Christian Smith, HR manager NorthgateArinso Italy - becomes crucial to ensure a high level of organizational well-being that allows them to be motivated, retain and fulfilled the role representing the company. The HR department is the engine of development of employees, and must be the guarantor of security and low or minimal levels of stress. For this reason, efforts to assess, analyze, monitor, prevenire e gestire situazioni potenzialmente a rischio di stress devono partire e/o coinvolgere sempre l’area HR».
